The College of Modern Science and Technology of China Jiliang University was established in 1999 and confirmed as an independent college in 2004 and finally as an applied undergraduate pilot university in 2015.

The college operates two campuses. The Xiasha campus of Hangzhou is located in Xiasha Higher Education Park, Hangzhou City, Zhejiang Province, adjacent to the parent China Jiliang University. The campus covers an area of ​​more than 2 square kilometers.

In January 2019, the Zhejiang Provincial Government approved the relocation of the Modern Science and Technology College of China Jiliang University to Yiwu City, about 130 km from Hangzhou.

The modern campus has been completed in less than two years. Academic operations started in the second half of 2020 with a few thousand undergradute and graduate students. It is expected that that campus will develop into a university city with 50.000 students.

The college currently comprised five departments, including

• the Department of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering
• the Department of Measurement Engineering
• the Department of Information Engineering
• the Department of Management
• the Department of Humanities and Law

The CJLU College of Science and Technology currently offers 25 undergraduate majors in six disciplines including engineering, management, law, literature, economics, and science.
